Hammersmith and Fulham resident on a low income with electricity debt
SHINE supported Mr A to ‘backload’ the debt on his pre-payment meter so that a small manageable sum was repaid on a weekly basis and some credit remained for lighting his home and using his appliances. SHINE also got Mr A a grant for £6,000 clearing the majority of the debt, secured bill discounts and registered him for tailored supplier support and help in the event of a power cut. Mr A’s feedback is below:
“I was living without power for long time due to a dispute with my supplier about charges. It was a stressful and depression situation that I had to live with until my housing officer put me through to SHINE who I must say surpassed my expectations in dealing with my case so quickly, swiftly and in such a professional manner… I just can’t thank the SHINE staff enough and I really do appreciate all the hard work they put in”

Ms S received letter threatening further action from her gas supplier if outstanding bill was not paid in full. She was visited at home by the Energy Doctor who investigated her bills and submitted accurate meter reads. Ms S had her bill recalculated and now owed her gas supplier nothing!
